Update…

March is Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month. Sharing my experiences has always been something I’ve done. It’s hard to navigate an ableist society, but even more so now that the government is actively targeting the disabled community. I’ve always been outspoken and that isn’t going to change.

When you’re disabled, logistics become a bigger issue that most people don’t have to consider.

“Sometimes you have to not just dream about what could be - you get out and push and you pull and you preach. And you create a climate and environment to get those in high places, to get men and women of good will in power to act.”

Remembering my hero, John Lewis, who was born on this day in 1940.

I have been told people would be interested in hearing my definition of ableism. It’s important to note that there is a vast, cavernous difference between definition and how something feels. I have spent my life trying as best I can, to share what it feels like to be stripped of my humanity.

In an update to the story, the National Park Service has gone even further and removed Q+ also. The government is now referring to the community as LGB www.them.us/story/nation...

Music is liberation. It’s at the core of what makes me who I am. Life is incredibly hard right now so I made a decision I never have before. I’m excited to say that I’m seeing Beyoncé not once but TWICE IN ONE WEEK! Bought a second Cowboy Carter ticket!

After 9 hours of trying, I finally got a ticket to Cowboy Carter Tour. Yes, I said 9 hours. The unending frustration of being disabled and the hoops we have to jump through.

We do not need, nor should we seek, permission to celebrate ourselves and our greatness. I think asking for permission is a denial of the distinct yet interwoven histories of the communities that shape me. HAPPY BLACK HISTORY MONTH. Thanks to the legendary Nina Simone for inspiring this post.

I always want to be transparent about the process when I have to ask people for help. Here’s a breakdown of where the fundraiser currently is. I’ll keep you updated. Thanks for your support. gofund.me/c3644dab

Being disabled in this country is so fun…

My mom framed this picture she found in a magazine and gave it to me as a kid. It’s something that has gone everywhere with me. As a country and world, we are now in such a time when we need to remember our collective responsibility to care for each other. It is time for courage.

TikTok has gone dark. My guess is it will be back after the fascist takes over on Monday. Still, I don’t think it’ll ever be exactly what it was.

Elected officials of both parties know nothing about social media. Ironic how they can never agree on anything but suddenly an app where people connect and change each other’s lives is a national security threat. I call bullshit! They put profit over people. Typical.

Mike Rinder is and will always be a hero to so many. He lives on in everyone who speaks out against the abuse he dedicated his life exposing and doing all he could to help others. My heart goes out to everyone who loves him.

Sadly, I’m not surprised. Patterns and practices like this are only going to get worse under the new administration. There won’t be enforcement of the ADA going forward. I’ve screamed for years about the threat of letting an ableist back into power; the vast majority of the country didn’t listen

Happy birthday, Ms. Tina! Sending you all my love. Hope today is everything you wish for and more ❤️

I don’t do resolutions. Something about it feels like forced positivity. The only thing I hope for is that the new year becomes less and less about the struggle to survive.

In memory of the great philosopher and theologian, John Cobb.

I’ve read through the new proposed rules and I have thoughts that essentially boil down to: they sound great but actions speak louder than words. Given that this country just empowered a man who thinks all disabled people should “just die,” I hope you can forgive my lack of optimism.
