Politics nerd. Twitter refugee- sick of feeding the beast. Episcopalian who has learned that my church practice is not really "high", but I don't mind the incense.
Pinned
I recently had a charged political conversation with the spouse of a colleague (shared occupation, but not the same office). Learned later that he was then worried about how it had ended- including my ability to somehow affect that colleague’s employment.

I guess I want them to know 3 things:

1/3
How about:

Raise the floor, break the ceiling
There needs to be a plan saying "here's how we're fighting back against those who are pillaging." Then, after that, when it's time to rebuild we can talk about the other stuff. So I think that "strong floor, no ceiling" isn't such a crazy concept. It just doesn't fit right now.

This is disgraceful- not only because the student should have suffered consequences for NOT DOING THE ACTUAL ASSIGNMENT, but also because the prof absolutely, professionally and completely, explained the justification for the grade- and the school is choosing to throw the PROF under the bus.
OU has put the professor here on administrative leave:
November 30, 2025 at 11:02 PM
Oh, this is already the case in secondary school. Kids don’t go to college knowing how to write effectively anymore.
And the fact that OU has been cowed into suspending a professor who had the barest of academic standards is TERRIFYING because the theocracy is billowing at an increasingly rapid rate and our collective standards are all at risk.

The future of our leadership for the next generations are at risk.

Academic writing isn’t the place for this. Your Facebook timeline is (depending on how public the student wants these opinions, given that they may come back to haunt them).

And the prof should be reinstated immediately.

Pete gave a spoken order *from above*…

…or else if he alone as SecDef gave that order unilaterally, he should immediately be fired and any officers who followed said order should immediately be subject to court-martial.

Both cannot be true.
BREAKING:

Republican-led House and Senate committees say they will amplify their scrutiny of the Pentagon after a WaPo report revealing that Pete Hegseth gave a spoken order to kill all crew members aboard a vessel suspected of smuggling drugs in the Caribbean several weeks ago.

Unless it’s the word Rs use internally when discussing it. If not, whatever that word is is the word journalists should use; and either way, exclusively in the following format:

…to seek some form of “[word]” against…
I really wish journalists would stop using the word "retribution" to describe Trump's efforts to criminalize opposition to him, as it treats his claim that his adversaries did something wrong in the first place.

I find myself at once horrified and fascinated at all of these scandals and examples of poor leadership in the ACNA, much like a car wreck in progress that one can’t look away from.

Yeah, okay, we can dream… but that is in no way what that sentence means.

If the left is going to say we’re the sane end of the American political spectrum, we should probably act like it.

I thought the whole premise behind continuity in this franchise, at least on the film side, was that Bond and his licence number were an identity, never a single person.

Bond is just the next best MI6 agent, just as M is its next leader and Q is its next best gear hound.
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

GODDAMN IT
Donald Trump has pardoned disgraced former Tennessee House Speaker Glen Casada and one of his co-conspirators following their corruption convictions. Casada was sentenced in September to 36 months in prison for wire fraud, money laundering, and related charges

The fraud isn’t on the consumption side of the Medicaid equation, dumbass.
Mike Johnson: "With Medicaid, we eliminated the fraud, waste, and abuse. We got able-bodied young men without dependents off the program. They were never intended to be there. They're sitting around on their couches playing video games. Yes, that's an actual study."

ABANDONED THE TODDLER IN THE BACKSEAT

Arrest these motherfuckers for child endangerment
Multiple accounts on ICE Watch Facebook pages are reporting that agents pulled a couple out of their vehicle in Aurora, Illinois, arrested them, and then abandoned the couple’s toddler in the backseat.

Re-upping, as the “if”s in part 14 are now reality.

The worldwide Anglican future is here. If you want to claim to be the “one global communion”, fine- but then change what the A stands for.

You are, by definition, no longer Anglican.
Scripture, Tradition, & Reason

These are the legs of the stool upon which rests the Anglican Church. It’s the third that seems to be lacking in corners of the Communion that are taking seriously some sort of existential “threat” of a female Archbishop of Canterbury.

Saw this tweet on FB earlier.

Of course it’s not that Penn State isn’t “allowed to try.”

It’s that for 46 years, and especially the last 11 of those, PSU taught us it didn’t have to be about that. The coach at the time? Joe Paterno.

Franklin didn’t have a .749 win pct. But he did have .698.

The SEC has some serious explaining to do after that Georgia/Auburn game.

I mean… the officiating was terrible for our game too, but them giving Kirby a timeout for free is some bullshit. The league should fine him handsomely. And Georgia should make him pay it personally.

Who in the ever-loving fuck is this moron? Do we not understand that there are things that WON’T GROW IN AMERICA?!?
Rollins: "It's Biblical - we've got to produce our own food. The president has talked significantly about the importance of onshoring our manufacturing. We also have to onshore our food. We have over the last decade begun to import more than we export, whether it's citrus or berries or even meat."

The fuck he did, Katie.

But maybe if you say it several more times, maybe while pretending to be on the verge of tears, someone might actually believe you.
Sen. Katie Britt: "Donald Trump won the hearts and minds of the American people. He won their confidence. And we're going to enact his vision."

Democrats vote exactly the way everyone expected them to as a MAJORITY REPUBLICAN SENATE CAN’T GET THEIR SHIT TOGETHER TO PASS A CONTINUING RESOLUTION THEMSELVES there fixed it

It’s like Dems have stuff they believe the American people deserve from their government or something
