Politics is expensive, and the Pay Gay impacts Women's ability to engage with the political world compared to Men.

Lib Dem Women back the Fawcett Society's proposals and you should too.

Whilst Equal Pay is the law in the UK, Women still make on average 10.9% less than Men.

This is NOT okay.

Equal Pay Day is a campaign led by the @fawcettsociety.bsky.social which recognises the day where the pay gap between Men and Women starts.

It marks the day of the final 10.9% of the day at where women are effectively working for free due to the pay gap.

Lib Dem Women stand firm in supporting women to stand for election in the @libdems.org.uk and will do all we can to help more women for election.

This isn't good enough, and worrying it is expected to get worse as @5050parliament.bsky.social predict the number of women MPs could fall to just 26%.

Women's voices in politics are too important to let this happen. We need women elected at every level of government to ensure our voice is heard.

For too long in the UK women have not had equal representation in elected bodies.

Currently just 40% of MPs are women, 46% of @libdems.org.uk MPs are women and just 28% of 2024 General Election candidates for the Lib Dems last year were women.

The success of D66 and the VVD in the Netherlands, and our own success in the UK shows that Liberalism is back and on the rise in Europe.

Their success proved that only ambitious and unashamedly liberal values can beat right wing populism.
