I'm a transit technologist based in NYC and Taipei. I work on next-gen fare validation systems for a living. Outside of work, I love riding my Brompton around, swing dancing and reading about progressive theology.

I preached my second sermon! Back at my old church in California, I link faith with attachment theory and talk about the physicality of baptism. Would love to know what you think!

Reclaiming Baptism: Being in Water Together (A Sermon at Oaklife Church on July 20th)
I preached at OakLife Church, where I was baptised, on July 20th this year. I connect faith to Attachment Theory and talk about the physicality of the act of baptism.

The administration got rid of 18F under the cover of night. People who own skyscrapers are afraid of 100 people who make websites.

Not because of the latest tech fad, but because we proved the government can be fixed, the government can be made better and the government can work for the people.

Did you know the most powerful force for climate action is LOVE—for our children, their future, and the world they’ll inherit?

That's right! Research shows this message moves hearts 12x more than jobs and 2x more than extreme weather.

This is also why I hate the “BREAKING NEWS” posts that contain not a single link to a reputable news source.

you’re not breaking news. You’re just being annoying.

This is blatant disinformation. Executive orders from the President of the United States do not nullify the Constitution of the United States. Birthright citizenship is quite literally written into the Constitution. If you needed more reason to cancel your subscription to WaPo, this should be it.
Breaking news: The U.S. government will no longer recognize the citizenship of children born in the United States to immigrants who lack legal status, one of 10 immigration-related executive orders President-elect Donald Trump plans to sign Monday, an incoming administration official told reporters.
Trump executive order will attempt to end birthright citizenship
The incoming president plans to take at least 10 actions related to the border or immigration, including ramping up deportations and suspending refugee resettlement.

I had a chance to chat briefly with Pete Buttigieg last week for (I think?) our fifth interview of his tenure as USDOT secretary. We talked EVs, robotaxis, Donald Trump, climate change, active transportation, and what do about Elon Musk. www.theverge.com/2025/1/13/24...

In 1996, Utrecht NL transformed a 6-lane car street thru the heart of the city into a car-free street that easily carries 40k people on bikes a day plus a LOT of public transit riders —far more people now than ever moved on it in cars. And with so much less pollution/emissions, noise & public cost.
Evening rush hour in Utrecht.

Much more efficient than if everyone were in a car, without the constant noise and air pollution and without grinding the complete city center to a halt.

Now who wouldn't wanna commute like this?!

My mother showed me her Facebook and asked why everything was AI-generated and how she could see her friends again. I am sad that I don’t have an answer for her. Facebook is essential for many folks who can’t learn new things and it is so violent to cut them off from friends and serve them slop.

So cool to see colour e-ink passenger information displays on the Taipei MRT. Feels less obtrusive than an LCD screen while still allowing PSAs to be displayed.
