Mottled Owl was also my 550th species for the United States. My US list lags 1 behind my ABA list thanks to my Toronto Snowy Owl. So shortly before seeing the Mottled Owl, Red-billed Pigeon became my 550th ABA list species

You can see a few solar prominences around the perimeter. A few stars and planets were also visible nearby, and we had a decent "360⁰ sunset" effect. Viewing location was Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge

You can see the wispy high clouds that remained, and we did not get to see lots of detail in the corona, but we did have nearly 4 minutes staring into the eerie blue of that "all seeing eye".
