It felt like a tale of two continents.

In one corner, Europe - wrestling with drift. In the other, America - propelled by a new drive.

For the UK, these cross-currents create challenge and opportunity - if we grip the hard reforms at home.

I welcome the government's announcement of a £1.5 billion loan guarantee for JLR - a vital step to support UK industry.

But questions remain:
1️⃣ What are the full terms of the loan and guarantee?
2️⃣ What is the support in place for workers?

Over half of ‘disgusted disruptors’ think their local area has declined a lot – twice the national average

IMHO, this is one of THE most striking findings in our research - and 1 of the most under-rated factors - driving the Reform vote: just how much people feel their places have been left behind.

Thanks to @itvnews.bsky.social for this interview on the Jaguar Land Rover shutdown:

This cyber-attack is not some mere flicker on a screen, it is fast becoming a cyber-shockwave ripping through our industrial heartlands... Ministers must step up fast with emergency support...

Today’s #DataOfTheDay from our @BestForBritain @YouGov polling: across all 5 ‘Reform tribes’ dominant emotions abt politics = disgust, anger & frustration

Hard-core Reform voters expect their wealth to decline – and that’s reshaping our politics

👉 Around one in three hard-core Reform voters think their wealth will be MUCH WORSE in ten years’ time.
👉 That’s more than double the national average.

Who feels left behind in Britain today?

Our new research with Best for Britain & YouGov shows that nearly a quarter of hard-core Reform voters say they’ve done worse than the people around them over the last decade. That’s 2.5 times the level of the GB average

Thank you Joel Hills from @itvnews.bsky.social

The Jaguar Land Rover data breach is incredibly serious for the company, its workers and its supply chain.

The House of Commons Business and Trade Committee will set out recommendations to protect British businesses and jobs from such economic harms.

@CommonsBTC will be questioning the new Business and Trade Secretary
@peterkyle in November on his plans for stimulating growth.

In the meantime, we want more information on his approach to employment rights and the roll out of provisions contained in the Employment Rights Bill.
September 9, 2025 at 2:29 PM
In June, @CommonsBTC wrote to the Government with recommendations for its Defence Industrial Strategy.

We hope to see these recommendations included in the strategy publishing today. Ministers will deliver a statement on this in the House of Commons this afternoon.

Nearly £47 billion of tax that’s owed is not collected - yet when businesses call to sort things out, not enough calls get answered.

In fact, 3-4 MILLION calls don’t get answered each and every year.

Here’s the jaw-dropping admission to the @commonsbtc yesterday.

21 lives lost. 0 held to account.

On Nov 21, 1974, bombs tore through Birmingham’s heart. The deadliest attack before 7/7. And still, no justice.
This month, I led a Commons debate with one demand:

A statutory, judge-led public inquiry. Truth matters. Justice matters. The families matter.
