A meeting of minds in London Zoo aviary

(This collared trogan then followed @liminalitea.bsky.social and me around the aviary, I kid you not.)

Sometimes when I'm working from home the neighbours *really* want to know what I'm up to.

Loving the Guardian dunking on Richmond vegan sausages for exactly the reason they are easily the best veggie sausage substitutes.

"They taste exactly like a real sausage but a sausage poor plebs eat so they're obviously terrible" is fantastic Guardian snobbery.

My dad was old-school so for me the smell of Halloween will always be raw swede.

And the taste will be the swede/nutmeg/black pepper soup he made for the parents while the kids of our street ran round our yard in bin bags.

Of Castaways & Castasides was Nautical/Polar horror. Naturally The Terror was an inspiration while an anecdote about the Erebus inspired the title story. Another story, based on a sea shanty, was a tribute to a late family friend. Robin Redbreast also inspired a character.

Notebooks (I always work in several at once), whatever pen is currently my favourite, and one of my various plushies to hold me accountable.

(Colin, short for Naexarog, Lord of the Abyss, is especially good at this)

I'm very old school - no apps/Scriveners/whatnots for me.

90% sure that Stumps the Toeless Wonder was magical - though whether they were my familiar or I was theirs is unclear.

Sometimes you write a typo (scribo?) so weird you have to record it for posterity.

She legst down? *Legst*, Lawrence?

Awakening

As an atheist revolution has overthrown a corrupt church, an interrogation reveals too late that the clerics and the revolutionaries may have had a shared goal, after all...

The Saintstones of Strawbeck

As a medium, Brother Cleopas is perfectly placed to verify miracles. When a village boasts of an unusual number of healings, Cleopas uncovers something not the work of the Parents, but something far darker. Pilgrims, however, are unwilling not to believe.

Atonement at Nerajou

A noble discovers that using necromancy to win a. War can't be atoned for just by building a monastery to house the revenants he created.

The clerics who tend to them, however, are more than happy to remind him, for many were soldiers themselves that day.

Novice Guardian

If an incompetent talking raven claimed to be your Guardian Angel, would *you* believe them? Krumi has to convince Jadoc she is, for much is at stake if she doesn't.

(Sort of based on a real Norse Saint's Saga. Yes, they had those.)

It's just nice when you write a sentence and your brain goes *bing* this makes something click and now has a plot significance that ties up a know you didn't know was there.
