“Music can be a call to arms, but music itself changes nothing. It won’t go further unless you are determined to act upon it.” Bob Geldof, the rock star-turned-activist who helped organize Live Aid 40 years ago, reflected on the benefit concert’s impact and why it could not happen today.

The case for banning social media for children seems inarguable, writes Simon Kuper. 'It has worsened teens' mental health, empowered criminals and shattered people's concentration to the point of making the world stupider.' www.ft.com/content/4c7d...

So chuffed to be part of this excellent collection.
I've been a bit rubbish with #BertVent this year... We've still been doing it, but I've forgotten to tell you what they are.

So we're gonna do a mega-thread!

These are the books I've enjoyed the most in this year. Each day during December, we've given one away!

What didn’t kill me didn’t make me stronger.

It gave me crippling anxiety, a lot of unhealthy coping mechanisms, some really nasty nightmares, the ability to drink enough caffeine to kill a horse, and made me into a cynic who cusses way more than necessary.

It is a calm early evening in Kyiv.
No power at home
(usually, two power outages a day, 2-3 hours each).
I came to the cafe nearby
to have a #warcoffee

I hope all the events happening in the world
are a good sign that freedom and democracy have a chance.
But I try to stay realistic. Let's see.
