It’s weird how playing for your national team can humanize an opposition player for me. I hate Haaland and never wanted him at Liverpool for one second, but suddenly I’m really happy for him?
Norway's locker room was electric after they all but qualified for the World Cup 🇳🇴

Erling Haaland and friends only need to avoid a nine-goal defeat in Italy and they're in, ending a 26-year tournament drought 😅

Game’s gone soft! Remember back in the good ol’ days when there was real mortal peril? Nowadays they only get soft injuries like snapping your knee, and they’re back playing in under a year! Our ancestors would be ashamed!
Border wars: a football match in 1599 between men of Bewcastle, England, and Armstrongs of Whithaugh, Scotland, was followed by ‘drynkyng hard’. Final score was two dead, 30 taken prisoner ‘and many sore hurt, especially John Whytfeild, whose bowells came out, but are sowed up againe’.

They rounded a bunch of random Venezuelans with tats and pretended they were in tren de aragua, then started blowing up random Venezuelan boats they claim “carried drugs,” in order to slowly groom their base into supporting a full ground war on Venezuela that was always about oil
Whole bunch of stuff beginning to make a lot of sense.

Low key, I think part of his deal for covering the World Cup is that he doesn’t have to set foot in the US under Trump.

Enjoy Mexico, Jurgen!
Jürgen Klopp is back!! 👀

Fascism thrives on ignorance, which is why quality public journalism is such an existential threat.

I see this a lot in Canada too, where our local far-right hobgoblins are constantly trying to take down the CBC.

Our adversaries want to control the entire information landscape. We can't allow it.
There's lots you can and should criticise the BBC for.

But it's our BBC - and it's important.

Great to speak to CNN - Donald Trump shouldn't have his hands anywhere near our public services.

"This is sociopathic behaviour"

"He is toxic, misogynistic, racist"

My NSPM-7 coverage has for weeks been met with smug assurances that there's no law for domestic terrorism. Well, the Trump admin just designated Antifa groups as Foreign Terror Orgs - for which there is a law:

Brilliant answer. Sadly, I don't think anything will take him down. MAGA is already pivoting to "banging underage teenagers is ok, it's not like banging a 5 year old."

"This could take down Democrats, too."

I know. And I frankly wouldn't give even an itty bitty damn if it implicated every Democratic man in Congress, every Democratic hopeful for 2028 and every Democrat who has even thought about running for office.

This is, again, another meeting at the White House about how to prevent the release of FBI documents about child rape. Think for a second, if you were accused of raping children, would you be convening multiple meetings about how to prevent the release of documents that prove your innocence?

Why did Sunderland start trying to play it out the back in the second half? They would still be ahead if they didn’t change their whole approach to make sure Arsenal had a chance.

Socialism is what they called social security.

Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.

This is the message. Make it clear that these billionaires aren't just worried about losing money. They're worried about losing the ability to exchange their money for power.

The Gakpo-Diaz rotation (and therefore change in style of winger) may be replaced by Gakpo-Wirtz rotation, and I’m okay with that even though I never wanted Diaz to leave.

The biggest sign of how Trent’s behaviour has been received came after the game last night. There is a clip of him shaking hands with most of our players and almost everyone was super cold, even the likes of VVD, Jones and Mo.

He abandoned us, end of story. I wish him well but I don’t miss him.
