FIRE's misleading free speech rankings systematically portray some campuses as intolerant. This was bad when it merely drove media coverage. It will be a disaster if government agencies now start to direct scientific funding based on non-scientific criteria.

I genuinely think we should start calling businesses and schools falling to the anti-DEI movement “segregationists” because they are re-segregating. And earlier rounds of segregationists *also* explained their preferred policy in race-neutral terms (“state’s rights” and “freedom of association”).

I found myself putting my hand over the left side of the screen because I wanted to hear what she was saying but he was just too annoying.

I very carefully did not say we *wouldn't* be bringing cats home. He just wasn't paying attention to the details.

I am so very, very sorry to hear this news. He was a wonderful person whose writing changed my life, and I'm thankful to have gotten to meet him in person. Sympathy and love to you and everyone who's grieving his loss.
