To be clear, using death camps to silence dissent and commit ethnic cleansings is REALLY FUCKING BAD in its own right. But if there's no due process, *nobody* is safe. Even licking the boot won't protect you from the government committing a whoopsy-daisy.

The thing about no due process is that you could get caught up purely by accident. You could be a big, hard-line MAGA conservative, and ICE could get an address wrong and you're in El Salvador. It's not just that this could be used to silence dissent-- without due process, *anyone* could be deported

Which is relevant in a "first-they-came-for-the-Jews" way: if you're thinking, "man, it's bad that they're talking about deporting immigrants with no due process, and that they're threatening and detaining US citizens, but that wouldn't affect me because I'm white and not politically active"--

You can argue they morally *should* anyway. You can argue that's their job. You can argue their morals should matter more than their feelings. And I'll agree with you on those points! And we can feel very morally justified and smart in death camps because our country fell to fascism.

I don't like any of the four people I just named, to be clear. This isn't a pro-Murkowski bluesky page. But the left *needs* conservatives to start standing up and saying this is wrong, and I don't know why we think people will do that if our response is to mock them if they join us.
