The other highlight was Shutter Story from @frostwood.bsky.social. It’s a game where you have to examine old photos for signs of haunting. 4/5

In addition to being utterly weird, it’s also very, very funny, and the brilliant dialogue made me laugh out loud. The horse party in particular was a joy. Watch out for this one, studio link below. 3/5

There were two games that really stood out for me. One was Tölt from @enigmastud.io, a game about being a horse 🐎

With its fuzzy low-poly graphics it felt like a cursed object. I loved it. 2/5

EGX has long since been absorbed into MCM Comic Con, and the number of games on show is now tiny compared to years gone by. But I’m pleased to say the Leftfield Collection still survives, and as ever, it was a highlight of the show. 1/5

Can confirm this is a fantastic comic book. I have the below edition - but whatever edition you get, it’s well worth a read.

At #GRNewHorizons today at Riverside Stadium. This is definitely the best view I’ve ever had from a games conference press room.

I chatted to some folks from Casio about the making of the Loopy - it’s in my book, Curious Video Game Machines, in the chapter about consoles aimed at women. Really interesting history!

Today’s the big day - it’s the GamesIndustry.biz HR Summit and Best Places to Work Awards at the Royal Institution. And I’m hosting!

We were at the Yorkshire Arboretum last weekend, where we witnessed the most beautiful, picture-book mushrooms I have ever seen.

I mean, just look at these beauties! 🍄

This is even funnier if you imagine the Colonel from Monty Python delivering the lines.

"Stop that, it's silly!"

I love that Playnist has chosen a beige laptop to advertise their new 'Goodreads but for games' thing.

Now I want one.

I think it's about time that beige made a comeback. #inspiring #beigeisback

A reminder of the importance of physical game events - and sausages 🌭

Atari’s Wade Rosen had lunch at a “really awesome bratwurst place” with Thunderful’s Martin Walfisz at Gamescom two years ago, and now Atari owns Martin’s company.

Did a bit of pre-work harvesting. The apples are ready very early this year!

It's 1991, what are you picking up from Argos?

I'm kind of tempted by F1 Race and the four player adaptor, providing I can find four Game Boy-owning friends who have F1 Race too. Seems a tall order. Did anyone ever manage a four-player session of that game?

Yes! It appears outside the hotel on the second day, like a beautiful soft whip swan.

I harvested the first new potatoes from the allotment this weekend, and made them into a salad with some peas and broad beans I harvested as well.

Delicious!

Also in this issue, I spoke to the lovely Shuhei Yoshida about the making of Ape Escape - which was one of the first projects he worked on at PlayStation, and one he has particularly fond memories of.

Plus, he told me about playing on the SNES PlayStation...

Behold the glorious new issue of Edge magazine, featuring three (count ‘em!) articles from yours truly - including a huge feature where I talk to Havok about 25 years of making things fall over prettily.

This is great news, and I hope it means game actors will get a fair deal going forward.

But also, I'm definitely going to steal this image and use it to round off all of my social-media arguments.
