I think even if you acknowledge the fact that something isn't perfect, it's still hard to listen to criticisms about something you love, even if you agree with said criticisms. I did that a lot with the first game for a few things.

I know exactly what you mean. I think that feeling comes from a similar place to the one where you try to recommend things you like to a friend, only for them to not enjoy it. Like you're placing yourself in that headspace despite the complaints you're hearing being mostly from strangers.
