Listening to people who confuse arming and aiding a country fighting for it’s very existence with warmongering, I think quite a lot about Patrick Henry.

Hey Stata users, I just published a nicer version of my guide for graphing regression results in Medium’s “Stata Gallery”.

The article includes all the code directly in the article—simply copy & paste! 😁

Hope it is useful for you!

For the past two days the epidemiologists and virologists in my mentions have been frantically chattering about an outbreak of a weird type of pneumonia in China.

Watching this with some concern.

In 2016, we kicked off a long term research program on how to govern the way #AI automation impacts work. Our Technequality program brought together a consortium of top social-scientists from top-notch EU universities. We predicted that mass job destruction was plausible and explored options.

seems like big news in Markov chains

Quantitative bounds on convergence times are very difficult to get outside the case of reversible chains. This is a new approach.

I have been teaching sociology classes on social order for 15 years and could not make sense of the seemingly erratic disruptive actions of the international populist right, unless I accepted one assumption:

The chaos is the main objective.

My book, Modeling Social Behavior, comes out in just 5 days in North America and the EU. Zounds! It's very good and you should get it, but you don't have to take my word for it - the 1st chapter is free on the PUP website.

Amazed by the current #ai panic. In this interview from 2019 (in which I discuss our research on the impact of ai on work) I warned that underestimating ai’s disruptive potential would be a mistake. It got lukewarm and sceptic responses, if any. Now, the other extreme.

Don’t panic. Just prepare.
