Oh, so you think Space Taxi was where taxi games started? Oh no no no no no! The birth of this genre was positively prehistoric!
(Also, the most adorable pixel-art intro ever!)

I said I'd do it, and I have. 😊 After filling both screens with emulated C64's and not even getting 20% CPU use, I decided to fill both screens with MAME arcade games. (I went for Neo-Geo size games so it's nice and uniform.)
It sounds great. 😄

"Another visitor. Say a while. Stay forever!" 😎
An evil scientist, an underground lair, robots that electrocute intruders. What more could you ask for?

If yer gonna take a hero from the past, or future, and do it live action, the money-saving trick was often to put them on present day Earth somehow. (Think Wonder Woman, Biggles, He Man, etc.)
Strangely, it happened to The Last Ninja 2 too! 😋

(Ex-lease business PC.. no RGB lighting. Just the way I like it.) 😋
Figured I'd try a Lenovo for the first time. Solid reputation with their laptops. I'm curious what curve-balls this change of brand might throw my way.

He's a ninja. He's bad-ass. He's been trained to use all the ninja weaponry. Henchmen and dragons, he can defeat them all. 🥷
He did skip the swimming lessons though. Do you think that'll be a problem? 😋

It does say they may not *all* work.
So.. "We threw a bunch of files on a USB, please buy it?" 😂

Third time dead: logic board, power supply.. logic board again?
I've decided that this PC is unlucky, and I've ordered another.
The new one is an ex-lease.
It has ten cores — twenty threads.
First task: open twenty virtual C64's at once?

An excellent shoot-em-up from the guy who would go on to create Sim City — hence the intricate infrastructure on the islands.
Fly around, shoot planes/ships/turrets. Dodge missiles and incoming fire. Destroy the factories.

I don't remember there being a really good Scramble game for the C64. Then, in 2021, long after we'd forgotten about such concerns, along comes Scramble Infinity.
An absolutely gorgeous conversion. Love that music too.

This was a time when it was okay for a shoot-em-up to just be a shoot-em-up. Enter a room, shoot anything that moves, use the gems to open up the next room, rinse and repeat.
There is an overly elaborate story on the cassette inlay, but that can safely be ignored. 😊

While I'm geeking out about cool loaders on the C64, "Bubble Bobble" on disk had a cool fuel-gauge type of thing that always impressed me. But you had to have the original disk. I don't think any of the hackers/crackers cared to replicate the fancy loader. 😊

It must have been a few weeks since I mentioned the cool tape loader for Mike Singleton's "Lords of Midnight", which shows off its excellent 3D landscaping engine.
It's quite a mesmerising effect. I should have tried it back when I had access to weed. 😋

A timeless arcade game, this one. Love the bug aliens and their curvy attack patterns. The idea of being able to get your ship captured and getting it back to wield the powerful double-ship is also inspired. 🐝
Ten out of ten. Would challenge-stage again.

I don't think local planning authorities give serious consideration to the health and safety concerns of time-travelling ninja's in their sewer systems. 🤔

Timber is an adorable game, with well drawn cartoon-style high-resolution sprites — it uses the same hardware as Tapper and Spy Hunter. An early implementation of two player simultaneous game-play, which it says in large friendly letters. 😊
It's just.. less exciting in one-player.

A bouncy game with bouncy music.
What more could a gamer ask for? 😊
Using parallax to do a platform game from above was a genius move.

So here's to that time I realised I could take Windows 10 PC, load up the virtual Windows XP machine in VirtualBox, boot the virtual Workbench 3.1 Amiga in WinUAE, and play High Noon on the virtual C64 in Magic64.
I enjoyed that. 😊

Better mention Cauldron II: The Pumpkin Strikes Back
That feels halloweeny, right?

But did you ever Day of the Tentacle?
Lucas Arts did an excellent job of returning to the mansion, with some top notch voice acting and animation.

Got the reaction times of an twitchy teenager? You too can be an assassin in Mission AD! Hunting down terrorists before they can do their terrorific things.
Actually it's quite approachable by yer average gamer. It's just hard to dodge all those bullets flying about. 😊

"Ghostbusters! Mwa-hahahaha!" 👻
Another excellent Activision game from the coding hands of David Crane. They knew the important things we wanted in this game: "He slimed me!", Mr Staypuft, driving in the hearse, and zapping/trapping ghosts.

This was the "Epyx could do no wrong" phase of the company. An Epyx game came out, you'd get it, no questions asked.
Impossible Mission didn't disappoint. Somersault jumps? A mad scientist? Electro-bolt Daleks? Saving the world? Yes please!
