The very first clip of COSMOS—this is where it all began. A voyage from the shores of Earth's oceans to the infinite expanses of the Milky Way, Andromeda, and beyond.

Thank you, Carl, for taking us on this journey. We remain forever in your debt.

We could have just had a normal president and a functioning country.

I hope that going forward, the “both parties are the same” motto gets laughed out of polite discourse as the cheap cynicism it always was.

Gotta say, I struggle on some days to reconcile the fact that millions of Americans actually WANT to live in a country with viruses spreading freely, thousand of people getting kicked out of their jobs, billionaires feasting on the government & people being snatched off the street by secret police.

Looks like the evidence for this weird chemical abundance in an exoplanet atmosphere has gotten stronger with new JWST data: www.nytimes.com/2025/04/16/s...

Is it really a sign of life? That’s still not clear; lots of analysis left to do. But it’ll be interesting to see how it all pans out! 🧪 🔭

About fifty years ago, NASA strapped a message in a bottle to a rocket and flung it into the deep dark
It wasn’t supposed to go this far, but it did. Long past its mission, it’s still out there so far away now that a simple hello takes a day to reach it, and another day to hear if it says hello back

I've been researching the idea of Unconditional Universal Basic Income since 2013. Here's a collection of findings I've compiled from various UBI experiments and studies of cash transfer programs around the world.

This will be a VERY LONG and ongoing thread focused entirely on empirical evidence. 🧵

The @esa.int Gaia satellite will take its final scientific measurements on Wednesday. 🔭

This will conclude a 12 year series of continuous observations.

Larger Gaia data releases are still in progress, but Gaia has already had a HUGE impact on our understanding of the #milkyway.
