Online early in Obesity, in a study of >15K patients nationally, we find that almost half of people prescribed #semaglutide (Wegovy) stop taking it by 5 months - esp if they have a high copay or lower income - even though all had commercial insurance. #MedSky onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...

It's not routine for health officials to subtype all the positive tests, and we usually have a flu A dominance (here's a picture of last year's season), so not saying we necessarily have spread of bird flu here - just that we should have been checking more vigorously earlier.

Glad that NYS now recommending subtyping of all hospitalized flu A specimens given current high level of flu A cases (H5N1 "bird flu" is one type of influenza A) and obvious national animal spread by now. But also baffled that it took so long. #MedSky #H5N1 #BirdFlu

We analyzed data from >13,200 participants in the #NIHRECOVER adult cohort. Among 4,515 followed from time of first infection we found the incidence rate of new ME/CFS was 2.66/100 person-years, compared to 0.93 in matched uninfected controls - HR 4.93.

Wait, does removal of 1 point for GI symptoms mean people with #LongCOVID don’t have GI symptoms? Nope! It’s the sixth most common symptom among people at or above the index threshold. 6/n

Several retained symptoms shift points a bit, and the new threshold for Likely #LongCOVID is set at 11 instead of 12. We refer to people with 1-10 points as having Possible #LongCOVID. Overall, only 2.7% of people change thresholds between 2023 and 2024 index. 5/n

Three symptoms no longer contribute points to the index: abnormal movements, gastrointestinal symptoms and lack of sexual desire/capacity (previously one point each). 4/n

It is not uncommon for a mom to have hep B. In fact, about 4-5% of the population has had hep B infection! Thankfully the rate is now decreasing since we started vaccinating. See this graphic from CDC. Still, in 2022 alone, doctors reported 16,729 new chronic hep B cases.

The risk of these complications is directly related to age at which you get infected. Getting it as a baby (from mom) is the worst possible time to get infected. About 90% of babies who are infected go on to develop chronic hepatitis. See this graphic from @who.int

Very interesting! I’ve not found SVI as helpful here in NYC because the housing/transport domain is so inappropriate for us (no trailer homes; conversely not owning a car and living in multiunit dwelling not good differentiators here!) but it is fascinating to see it outperform ADI in general.
