Brasil did vote for the 2021 decision C-25/DEC.9, para 9.24
November 28, 2025 at 10:13 AM
Brasil disassociates from consensus, which allows it to be adopted without a vote. The hammer goes down and decision is adopted.
November 28, 2025 at 9:59 AM
I can't remember, but did Brasil vote for or against the decision in 2021?
November 28, 2025 at 9:57 AM
Did have a text but saw no sign of genuine engagement. Brasil wanted to have consensus. Brasil thinks there may be a hidden agenda, to avoid a reference to the 2021 decision. Para 1 has wilful vague language.

Now Brasil speaks:
Wants an official record of his comments. Looking forwards to rights and privileges being regained. All membership owns the Syria file.
Brasil did not call for a vote, others did. Repeats previous complaints. Want a negotiated solution.....

The 24 hours are up. The DG is talking to Qatar on the stage. Brasil are sitting in their seats. Most of the world don't really care, but I sit here interested in what will happen on this decision

No consensus on draft and no consensus on draft with amendments from Brasil.
Decision being deferred for 24 hours, to allow further discussion, then a vote (with 2/3 majority required).
November 27, 2025 at 9:32 AM
Would like draft decision to be adopted, hopefully by consensus, by the conference.
November 27, 2025 at 9:29 AM
DG now reading from previous decision. Highlights that the change of government in Syria is not the concern of the TS.
November 27, 2025 at 9:26 AM
Syria concerned about drafts being circulated without seeking their opinion.
Syria highlights they are now representing victims not perpetrators.
Syria wants consensus.

We reconvene today following engagement between Brasil, Qatar and others.
Brasil suggested a change to the Quatar sponsored decision. Qatar thinks Brasil's amendments are already in the decision, so seeks consensus and if not, a vote.

It's fair to say, this is not all farmers. The tractor concerned looked as if it has never left tarmaced roads.
November 26, 2025 at 5:31 PM
Qatar calls out Brasil for saying they were not consulted in the draft decision when they have had plenty opportunity to discuss and feed in their views.
November 26, 2025 at 5:16 PM
I was in Whitehall a few months ago with a former farmer protest. Police tried to prevent a tractor driving into an area of crowded pedestrians where traffic was excluded. They drove past the police (making the officer move out of the way) and drove over the traffic signs.

* cave in to pressure (autocorrect)
November 11, 2025 at 11:33 AM
Sorry, I misunderstood, thanks for the clarification.
I certainly agree that the BBC continually appears to have in to pressure from the right and those of us who want both sides reported, in context, are left frustrated. I don't want to see it fold as then we lose, so yes, we need to push back.
November 11, 2025 at 11:32 AM
So get rid of the BBC and leave it all to the privately owned media companies to peddle the interests of the very wealthy?

Thanks to Nigel or thanks to his backers?

Having worked in Cheshire, albeit over 20 years ago, her comments mirror the sort of comments I heard openly many times.
She was elected because she holds these views and people who think the same got up and voted.
