We all seem to be traumatised by our parents. Either we are utterly refusing to have kids at all or are desperate to the point of illness to be the opposite of our own parents.

Whislt I agree with the sentiment, I think it's more that previously democratic parties that are "failing" have simply stopped being democratic. If your existing parties do not consider themselves as accountable to people as to business, then they're not democratic anymore. This incubated extremes
