I don’t think that focusing our efforts in the online space will translate to material change. the left in america is the weakest it’s ever been and I don’t think hasan or other popular left leaning creators moving to bluesky is going to move the needle
i believe that creators and community leaders like Hasan, Juniper, Contrapoints, etc bear the brunt of the blame for so many people still using X — people go where the content is… you are an influencer! you have real influence! use your influence for something good! the people will follow!

When the CNT, who commanded an organization of some 400,000+ workers called for the boycott of elections in 1933 you could easily argue that the left, did indeed, have a role in the election of a fascist government. The criticisms of a minority of leftists had no bearing on 2024.

i think one aspect of squid game that gets ignored is the absurdity of it all. the colourful sets and costumes contrasted against the horrifying reality of the game really set it apart from the usual horror-suspense shlick of overly-dramatic self-serious dramas shot in that boring blue-grey grading

Abolishing capitalism won't abolish patriarchy. Aspects of patriarchy that involve capitalism would end eg sexist advertising. But so much of patriarchy is self-reprodicing and can co-exist with socialism eg socialization into gender roles, men treating women as objects, sexual harassment etc.
