Tackling pine trees in the war on Christmas. Cynicism is so 2016 of you. Know what I mean, Vern?

In 2023, the National Science Foundation opened the door to financing research into the nascent field of biomining, where modified microbes extract copper from mining waste.

Researchers worry that with funding cuts, “this type of work is in danger of never getting off the ground.”
Can bacteria serve as the "microscopic miners" of the metals we need?
A company backed by mining giants just had a sustainable breakthrough, but now funding cuts jeopardize it.

In the post-Luigi situationship between the public and the corporate class, with that world filling up with automated claims denial and wildfires, if you’re standing next to the guy turning the valve to gas you… uh, do the self preservation mambo?

the idea that publishing the code that DOGE engineers were working on would help fix negative public perceptions of DOGE is kind of fascinating in how thoroughly it misses the point sahillavingia.com/doge

In fact, a large reason why we have so much northern forest in Canada (particularly western Canada) is because it's been cold enough to balance low precipitation rates.

As it heats up, all those plants will need more water to maintain their functions.
We do not expect to get that additional rain.

It is wildly alarming that Flin Flon and multiple other northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan communities have had to evacuate due to SPRING wildfires.

But also, after the 2001 Chisholm Lake and 2002 House River Fires in Alberta, we have learned how destructive spring wildfires can be.

And just like that at least eight TikTok channels have lost their best content.
A McDonald's in Virginia is requiring diners to be 21 or older if they want to eat inside their restaurant — and they even have a doorbell that customers must ring before they're let inside.

The reason? Students from nearby stores keep fighting at the fast food restaurant.
Must be 21: McDonald's location implements age requirement, adds doorbell to dine inside
To enter, customers must ring a doorbell to be allowed entry by an employee.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the white feminists who think the starving mothers and children in Palestine are just the cost of doing business. Satan sends his regards, says he’s really looking forward to seeing you.

Someone had to think to themselves, and share with a team, that if immigrants received notice that social security now considered them dead it would be sufficiently fucked up to make them want to leave the country. Whoever that mf was, burn him down.

Power, like money, needs redistribution. Every billionaire devoid of exceptional talent is a testament to the injustice of your toil.

ICE is short for Gestapo.

Many countries in the past have had a group of basic cops turn into a scary sounding gang of government enabled thugs. Can you name a few? Cuz ‘ICE’ is definitely going to be appearing in films about the fall of the US empire.

the ai sloppification of the world will only end if organizations stand up for artists like this. this is another great reason to unionize your workplace as you can include NO AI ART in your work contract
Hi! Quick note: The Onion accidentally posted a stock photo from a vendor with an AI generated image in it. We pulled the post down once we found that out. Our commitment to not using AI is very real. It's in the union contract to disclose it if we ever do. World is a slop minefield and we're sorry.

For anyone living in Canada or the uk, read up on your defamation laws. They’re shit, and they can be weaponized against you if who you post about wants to tie you up for a few years.

Late stage America is doing the fascism onset with gusto. Conservatives who live long enough to see their leaders for the grifters they are might still find scraps enough to deny they were tricked into supporting a bunch of bathroom peakaboo preacher types. Pray it takes less than 20 years.
With the first week of 2025 coming to a close we are looking at 138 Anti-LGBTQ+ bills across the country.

The biggest categories are:
- Gender Affirming Care Bans
- Bathroom Bans
- Books Ban

I expect these numbers to explode over the next few weeks as multiple states go back into session.

Biden committed genocide. Going to repost this until it sinks in.
5/ In November, State Department human rights leaders met with one of Blinken’s top lieutenants and begged the administration to follow through on a threat to cut off arms to Israel for blocking humanitarian assistance.

Here’s what happened 👇
