Painful waits. But in the end you'll have a book, so it's worth it. 🫠

I do wonder if this is a dyslexia thing. Rhythm in language so heavily impacts my ability to take it in, that until I know what are the regular structures of sentences and phrases, it feels like I'm reading a second language that I learned in high school and haven't used much since then.

I end up reading most sentences two or three times, grasping in the dark for meaning.

Which is why I almost never dnf a book before the 50 page mark. Sometimes I will LOVE a book once I get to know it. It just takes time.

Cool. I've only read Joyce's long works. I might look into it! :)

And I think sometimes it's easier to learn how something works structurally from a work you don't like, because at least for me, if I like it I'm too invested to analyze. :)

I don't either.

I have only generally read short stories for school and the ones that are part of longer series. One of these days I'll buckle down and read some to get the rhythm into my mind. But they just always leave me going, "okay. That was a lovely first chapter. What's next?"

Ecosia annoyingly has an ai tab, but right now, it's a separate tab that I can ignore. (and flip off when I'm in the mood.)

I think we've talked before about how bad I am at short. I will come up with a short story idea & have obliterated the word count window without getting to rising action.

I think, for me, it's because I don't really read that many short stories, so I lack the instinctive feel of what will story.

I just switched search engines to ecosia. Which isn't as good at actual searching as Google used to be, but it's getting better and plants trees
