I don't know about you guys but album artwork is a major part of music for me!

Just as with books, give me two versions of a piece and I'll crawl through broken glass for the one with the better cover, even if I see it only occasionally on my phone's tiny screen

I had one and only one — got it for free from a record store counter in 2001. The novelty of the tiny format seemed to go hand-in-hand with the bewildering cover and the chaotic, hypnotic music therein. A record for gnomes. Uncanny

Incredible that this tweet was made only three years ago. It is one of the key texts and its power is truly liberating

Andrew forgot he’s running for mayor of the city of immigrants. The white-flight suburbs he’s used to pandering to are not voting in this one.

Disagree completely! It’s not a simple work but it deals with immensely rich themes about acceptance and choice. Choosing to engage with life instead of committing suicide, choosing to work on your marriage instead of abandoning it, choosing reality over fantasy, choosing to become a parent.

It really is too on-the-nose that the entire global economy rests on a bubble of bullshit-generating algorithms pumping the stock price of a company named after the Latin word for “hatred”

What Bouie describes here has been the Obama coalition’s biggest mistake. We focus on elections like it’s holiday shopping season, declare victory (or defeat), then go back to sleep, rather than converting electoral energy into year-round organizing and participation.

I’m not attending @smallpressexpo.bsky.social this year — disappearing for a 10th anniversary getaway with @thestarkest.bsky.social! But have fun, everybody 🧡

Sometimes I’ll try to wrap my head around a musician by looking up the songs they play live most frequently — surely the fan and artist favorites and therefore best? But then you see that Zeppelin only played “Good Times Bad Times” 4 times EVER, and it’s like,,, what are we doing here

That’s the optimistic version; this is the pessimistic alternative, and oh god they were both in their early 50s that’s not so far away

Look at these details. The daisy has a silly little happy-face. The radiating lines of the bird’s chirping form a musical staff on which he drew a sideways treble clef. He didn’t have to do this but he did.
