hi #plantsky, it’s been a while :) popping in to share what 2 years of growth has looked like for my hoya carnosa ‘compacta’ 💚
A small hoya carnosa ‘compacta’ in a brown 6 inch plastic pot. The plant is very young, with the longest vine being about 5 inches. The leaves are waxy and bright green with distinct folds throughout, the primary characteristic of the compacta variety. the same hoya carnosa ‘compacta’ nearly 2 years later - it has about 5-6 different vines with 3 of them being more than 2.5 feet long when fully extended! It is hanging on my front porch in the evening sun.

A young alocasia frydek showing off its two newest and biggest leaves! The bigger leaf is about 5 inches long and is solid white. The second one is just a little shorter and is a crisp white with splashes of green along the lower left half of the leaf.

A blooming begonia albopicta: the leaves are wing shaped and varying shades of light to medium green with white spots all over them. The bright light pink blooms are coming from a single stem and there are about 20 of them daintily hanging together!

A Venus flytrap with 7 developed traps and 3 in development. The plant is a light bright green all over, excepting splashes of red in the mouths of the traps that should increase in saturation over the summer. It’s sitting on my patio on a thrifted antique crystal tray filled with rain water. My climate is zone 8.5 and this plant will live outside year-round, with normal winter dormancy.

A large and bushy outer variegated hoya kerrii. The plant has large heart-shaped leaves with a waxy texture. The leaves are green in the middle with light cream to yellow colored variegated on the outer edges. A few of the leaves are nearly solid variegation. The plant has several vine shoots that are preparing to develop leaves. There are also many peduncles!

A columnea carnival or goldfish plant. The blooms resemble goldfish jumping out of the water — this carnival species has bright yellow blooms with a little bit of bright red on some of the edges. It is outside in a hot pink glittery 6-inch plastic basket that has been repurposed into a planter (holes drilled into the bottom for drainage).

A pilea moon valley in a 5-inch gray ceramic pot. Its leaves are generally a chartreuse green, often with bronzy or chocolate-brown undertones, and are deeply textured, resembling the moon's surface, hence the name. The leaves have a fuzzy, bumpy texture and may have a slight lime-green margin, especially in shadier conditions.

My yard was lined with cinderblocks by someone many, many years before me in an attempt to level the yard. I’m making the most of it and using them as planters! This is my favorite: a super bright hot pink snapdragon with about 6 stems and counting! It’s in line with other plants that are pinks, yellows and purples.

The camera is focused on 2 leaves on my tiny philodendron Florida ghost. The leaves are about 4 inches from tip to base and one is mostly solid white while the other is a pale yellow with bright green streaks and specks all over. The leaves haven’t reached their mature shape yet and are oblong with small wings at the base of the leaf. It’s sitting in a greenhouse cabinet surrounded by plants.

A tiny pink princess philodendron in a 3 inch planter. The 5 leaves are all slightly longer than an inch and are a deep green. The newest leaf has a couple of small dashes of a pretty bright pink along the outer edges. The stem and petioles are deep-pinkish brown. It’s inside a greenhouse cabinet surrounded by other plants.

A monstera ‘thai constellation’ with 4 leaves. Two are not fenestrated at all and have big splashes of cream color. The 2 newest leaves have a couple of fenestrations on each side of the leaf and have speckled dashes of cream. The matured leaves are a rich forest green color.
