The largest war ship in the world has been moved to the Caribbean, along with other ships, bombers, amphibious vehicles and more.

That’s a lot of firepower to stop small vessels carrying drugs.

It looks a lot more like preparation for war.

Congress needs to get involved before it’s too late.

New incredible detail here: ICE says a match in its facial recognition app Mobile Fortify is a "definitive" determination of a person's status, and that this overrides birth certificates. This is an app ICE is using in the field to scan people

The fact that right-wingers commit the vast bulk of domestic terrorism in the US is well-established by numerous expert investigations & reports.

But the right *accuses* the left more often, makes more *noise* about it, so they've bullied reporters into framing this as a "both sides" problem.

My response is that national greatness is not a self-evident good. American leadership in science was not good because it was American, but because of how it structured and promoted science. Unless and until the US reinstates that, the decimation of its leadership is not bad, it's (sad but) good

Again, a reminder that the law of the United States creates and names executive departments, not the president at any given time.

"The Department of Defense is an executive department of the United States." 10 U.S.C § 111

It’s so strange that pundits are framing this as “Trump will ALSO use troops in blue cities in RED states. Ha, ha! Checkmate libtards.” As if it’s any less troubling to use the military in friendlier political climates.

We should be against the military playing a role in US policing anywhere.
President Trump suggested sending federal crime-fighting resources to New Orleans, marking the first time he has floated deploying troops and federal law enforcement to a Republican state as part of his ongoing attempt to crack down on blue-city crime.
