Nothing interesting here
I haven’t played it, but now I will check it out. Thanks for the recommendation.

I’m pretty sure Lucas said he wouldn’t be making a sequel unfortunately. I had hoped an ambitious game dev might try and take the concept and make something else with it, but that hasn’t happened thus far.

For whatever reason I’ve encountered a lot of people who claim to be sickened by the thought of eating leftovers or the same meal for more than one day. I’m a batch cooker so it’s hard for me to understand, but people have argued with me that they think it’s repulsive.

Someone tried to send me Mariage Freres 2 months ago as a gift and it’s still waiting in limbo presumably to never arrive.

This makes me think of Hobo: Tough Life. It does a great job of demonstrating how difficult being homeless is, but it makes it very hard to learn the game when I’m basically dying within the first hour of the game and every time you die you lose 10% of your stats permanently until restart = death.

I’m seeing this all over healthcare these days. I’m basically avoiding some medical stuff simply because I refuse to sign over my right to privacy.

The Afterparty - Sam Richardson and Ben Schwartz plus many others in a who-done-it murder mystery. Both seasons were great and left me wanting more.

It only supports the theory that something has screwed up the timeline and we are getting the worst of every era.

Bioshock. Walking around with a bunch of deranged, drugged up psychos had me on edge. That moment when you look in a drawer then turn around to see that surgeon in your face was the biggest jump scare I’ve experienced in a game. Subnautica is also on the list once you start going deep enough.

This also seems to be when lots of companies started creating UX design specific jobs and stopped innovating on technology in any useful or meaningful way that benefits the end user. It’s also when the push to monetization, micro transactions, and subscription services started. Coincidence?

In the past ~15 years, so much UX/UI design is just re-designing things for the sake of re-designing them even if it makes the product worse. I don’t know if this is because companies are trying to trick customers into thinking they’re improving the product or people justifying having a design job.

I really enjoy the show, but don’t like how cynical it is. Even as a cynical person, I reject White’s worldview that virtually everyone is a lying, cheating opportunist whose values are entirely performative.

I think Janeway said she didn’t have the luxury to date due to her rank. I believe it might have been at the end of Resolutions after thinking her and Chakotay were going to spend the rest of their lives alone together. The subtext seemed to serve to quash their unspoken budding romance.

Amazing that he doesn’t understand the point of an interview on a fundamental level, but perhaps I misunderstand what he’s looking for in employees. I assume it’s because he’s a person of no ability and talent himself, but bullshitted his way into his position and thinks that’s an admirable quality.

Joel is a wonderful character in both and their relationship in the game makes you love Ellie in the way he does. I didn’t really feel the connection with the show because she’s always so bratty. I’m not a fan of a lot of choices made, but I guess that happens when something you love gets adapted.

She’s kind of charming and funny in the games (likable comparatively), but it wears off in part 2 as the story progresses. The show (or actress) chose to start her off as the angry character she becomes in season 2 which makes the character have no real development potential. She’s very annoying.

Ah, the quintessential 20th century American novel trope of the existential crisis of a guy who’s annoyed by his wife, kids, and mistresses. They could actually serve as a warning about forcing people into marriages considering all these guys were miserable for living life in a way that’s expected.

Also, he has to see what’s special in her. It’s very important that he “sees her” in a way that no one else does. In a way it’s more about how he perceives her than how she perceives him. What’s important is that he supports and celebrates her, even in cases where he’s not the greatest guy.

The fantasy is more guy who’s been hurt or emotionally closed off, but is deep down a kind-hearted soul who just needs the special woman to come into his life and open him up. Maybe he’s a little bit bad boy, maybe he’s rich, but mostly she has to be “the chosen one” who can fix or “release” him.

I was once walking head down on a sidewalk feeling pretty depressed. I passed someone but didn’t look at them. Then I heard a loud and cheerful greeting. I looked up and it was Will Farrell smiling at me. We didn’t talk or anything, but it did make me feel better.

Doubtful, but it might do/be okay if they got someone like Pedro Pascal. I’d at least check it out. But if Solo is any indication of the direction they’ll go, no thanks.
