This is horrific and exactly what those of us in Black studies, gender studies, women’s studies have been warning our colleagues in the sciences about. Their seeming neutrality will not save them.
Heartbreaking. The University of Nebraska will terminate its entire Earth science department.

One of the country's most successful and respected geology & climate programs: gone.

When ideologues & politicians are threatened by the very act of studying climate change, I wonder: who of us is next?
It's over.

Despite the fact that the academic council recommended against it, despite the fact that the program brought in more tuition than it cost, and despite the fact that Nebraskans need & deserve this expertise, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences will be cut.

Now that Instagram is basically QVC, one of my favourite pastimes is looking at an advertisement and trying to figure out what the hell that item IS, much less how it’s used. (Yes I know the goal is to get me to click through out of curiosity and drive traffic to the site.)

Two minutes into The Abandons and I am marvelling at Gillian Anderson’s transformation into Glenn Close. (Also, lovely as she is, when did it become a rule that Gillian Anderson has to appear in everything all the time. Yes, okay, I can hear you boys at the back telling me to hush up.)

Watched Jay Kelly. Enjoyed it, though a bit too much Symbolic Running for my taste.

So thoughtful of Stellan Skarsgård to provide us with a buffet.

Rewarding stop in the charity shop. Came away with two Portmerrion glasses that are not only beautiful but absolute units. Useful when you drink as much water as I do and are usually trapped under a 10pound cat. Vase also from a charity shop.

Just overheard a VERY small boy at a bus stop telling his dad he was going to give someone “the bombastic side-eye” and nearly ran back to ask if I could adopt him.

My brain on one of its unescorted wanders: I stopped eating octopus b/c they = scary smart. But still eat pigs, also smart. If willing to eat smart things (as are many of us omnivores), why is human meat a step too far? A logic question not a food craving crisis. But not prepared to go vegetarian.

Doing a video and the instructor has us lying on our backs with arms and legs sticking straight into the air. Then we are told to jiggle them and keep jiggling.

Burst into fits and fits of giggles. Felt great. Going to remember this next time I feel low.
