I’ve always thought the issue should be ‘learning to learn’. As is pointed out many times in the comments, the transferable skills from the humanities are legion.
But..
The issue I see with more ‘vocational’ based education at this level is what happens when that job disappears?

I was talking to my partner afterwards that I couldn’t find a friend of ours. Short(ish) bald bloke of increasing age dressed in black.

I think the last time I did a road trip for a band was 25 odd years ago. And even that was because I was driving and tour managing

It’s a really informative (and very worrying) thread isn’t it.

I think what it highlights more than anything is the utter lack of long term planning for any high level d vision made. Everything is about the next election, and not what the country actually needs

We used to see her in Hyper Hyper in the eighties. We little bunch of small town goths and weirdos who’d jump the train, do Kensington Market to buy bootleg cassettes and then over the road pretending we had a chance of buying her and Dave Vanians then wife’s stuff

It all too often seems that the stress is built in. Have too many family members and friends that have got to maybe first application, gets turned down and just go ‘fuck it, I’m not going through that again’.
So the system ‘wins’
