Leeds-based Kirkstall Brewery has teamed up with Asda to create a commemorative ale - Yorkshire Best Bitter, 4.5%, £1.97 per can - to mark the supermarket's 60th anniversary. Limited-edition BYB is inspired by Bentley's Yorks Breweries which brewed at the original Kirkstall Brewery.

Wonderful pub, well preserved, with the added bonus of being one of the rare pubs with a physical, very visual sign, featuring a hanging golden ball.
The Golden Ball in York, community run and nice John Smiths glazed brick frontage from the 20s. 4 rooms inside including main bar with tiled counter and one with bar billiards table. Black country style cabinet with pie and cakes (but no cobs) and 6 cask beers. Brass Castle Bad Kitty excellent.
