These people have exactly one strong impulse and it's to immediately throw cold water on any indication that their own base is getting angry or making demands. They fundamentally see their purpose as telling anyone thinking about standing up for themselves to knock it off and be quiet.

I don’t mean normal chatty stuff like tagging a friend into a conversation, I mean someone venting or even just talking about a public person/entity w/o directly @ing them, & then someone in the comments replying w that person/entity’s @, sometimes even when they agree with the OP for some reason?
