One of the coolest outcomes: after Vincent's talk, he was led in a Q&A by Tennessee author Brooks Lamb -- turns out Brooks and I share an alma mater (shout out Rhodes College) and we've got big plans to scheme about virtues and love of the land and building character and soil in conjunction

Yesterday we hosted Vincent Stanley, the chief storyteller and executive leader at Patagonia for the last 50 years, at UKY.

It was a major collab among a bunch of folks, particularly the Office of Sustainability and my unit, the Tracy Farmer Institute for Sustainability and the Environment.

I fully support the executive summary of the DOE’s “Critical Review of Impacts of Greenhouse Gas Emissions on the U.S. Climate.” However, the deep state bias and historical government spending supporting a “Green New Deal” agenda will probably try to dispute this DOE review. I asked probing questions of several AI models. At a high level (conclusions without supporting facts) all the models that I queried had a strong bias to support a “Green New Deal.” Since AI Grok provided the most detailed response including mathematical calculations for my probing questions, I have included Grok’s summary to highlight the absurdity and bias of a “Green New Deal” and/or the UN IPCC assumptions, conclusions and recommendations. The following contains AI Grok’s answer to several questions that I asked supporting DOE’s recent review on climate change, and it clearly shows how the deep state bias can (on the surface at least) wrongfully influence science/economics and conclusions. Any perceptive evaluator must remember that AI models must be trained, and training may allow for the problem of “garbage in = garbage out.”

Miyazaki tells stories that blend the ordinary and the fantastic in ways people find deeply meaningful. Altman tells lies for money. And I’m glad they’re lies. Because the makers of AI aren’t damned by their failures, they’re damned by their goals. They want to build a genie to grant them wishes, and their wish is that nobody ever has to make art again. They want to create a new kind of mind, so they can force it into mindless servitude. Their dream is to invent new forms of life to enslave. And to what end? In a kind of nihilistic symmetry, their dream of the perfect slave machine drains the life of those who use it as well as those who turn the gears. What is life but what we choose, who we know, what we experience? Incoherent empty men want to sell me the chance to stop reading and writing and thinking, to stop caring for my kids or talking to my parents, to stop choosing what I do or knowing why I do it. Blissful ignorance and total isolation, warm in the womb of the algorithm, nourished by hungry machines.
