I’ve said it before - this programme from @ncetm.bsky.social is one of the best PD programmes I’ve been involved with (and I’ve been around for years!)

One way of thinking of a division A÷B is to find a way to change B to 1.
In the case of 21÷3, say, we get 21/3 ÷ 3/3 = 7÷1 = 7;
in the case of 3/4 ÷ 1/4 we get 3/4 * 4 ÷ 1/4 * 4 = 3÷1 = 3.
Put another way,
If 3 shares are 21, what is 1 share?
If 1/4 share is 3/4, what is 1 share?
[Useful?? Dunno!]

… So, with maths particularly, if there was a way to pick the most important bits, and just do those, a student may get a 4/5 whereas when doing more they get a 3 because no time to consolidate. So a half at 5 may be more valuable than full at 3.
