There is a different version of the Christian faith, one that is far removed from the political headlines.

This faith loves its enemies. It mends the broken heart. And it declares, by word and deed, that no one is too lost to experience the love of God. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/20/o...
Opinion | A Resurrection Faith Needs a Resurrection Church
As anger and fear dominate the public square, a church that follows a resurrected savior should be a balm, not a blowtorch.

My weekend take on Kilmar’s case: Do Americans believe in cruelty? Are we cruel? Do we want our children to be cruel? Forget about the politics of Kilmar. This is a question about whether we are going to make Trump‘s cruelty our own. open.substack.com/pub/jimacost...

This is Marco Rubio explaining how the USA promised to defend Ukraine forever if they got rid of their nuclear arsenal left after the Soviet Union fell.

In this day and age, living in a place that
- you like,
- you can afford,
- you can find a job,
- you have family/friends,
- you feel safe, and
- you *are* safe from natural disasters/bad laws/worse

is luxury and privilege. Almost no one gets to check all the boxes.

So maybe don’t be an asshole.

Chip Carter:
“My father was a hero, not only to me but to everyone who believes in peace, human rights, and unselfish love… My brothers, sister, and I shared him with the rest of the world through these common beliefs…we thank you for honoring his memory by continuing to live these shared beliefs.”

Jimmy Carter set a great example for all of us of what it looks like to a Christian in politics. He lived out his faith, built bridges with people of other faiths, and never used the force of government to impose Christianity on others. May his exemplary Baptist example inspire generations to come!

Presbyterian Church: “Decisions involving reproductive rights are highly personal and often informed by faith. The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) declared in 1970 that abortion “is a matter of careful ethical decision” by each person and “should not be restricted by law.’”
