Warsaw's water quality is monitored by eight clams with magnets attached to their shells. If contamination in the water causes the clams to close, the magnets trigger an alarm and shut off the city's water supply.

This is primarily why I am firm in not having children. I can’t do that to someone I love.
one of the hardest things is seeing the world I thought my children would be growing up in disappearing into the mist. grief is appropriate.

It’s been surreal to watch the people who taught me not to worship anything but Jesus totally abandon the most basic tenants of Christianity in favor of worshipping the crudest and most basic version of an authoritarian. Turns out the idol wasn’t grades or a boyfriend, it’s always power.

The federal freeze on grant funding is looking very, very bad in Atlanta. Georgia relies on federal funding for essentially *all* of its spending on housing support, and most of its spending on homelessness, mental heath and substance abuse treatment.

It may be a good time to recall that almost 100 yrs ago wealthy businessmen hatched a scheme to weaken progressive Christianity because the social gospel wasn’t conducive to corporate profits. They poured $$$ into Chr orgs that preached a different tune: the gospel of free market capitalism.
