Looks like Softbank is selling its stake in NVIDIA and Oracle is eating a downgrade, so... yeah. going to say that we roughly called it, about a month before the bubble actually deflated.

Let us hope it is a gentle deflation and not a sudden pop.

do y’all ever get the sense that part of the reason why it’s so easy for people in power to turn a blind eye to these kinds of atrocity is because they know how much more common it is than the general public, and they are desensitized to it?

just saw a V-tailed small jet overflying my kids' school, and i went “what, that's odd” because the only such kind of plans i know is the SF50

yep, my broken eyes didn't trick me: it's N856UM, doing a little puddlejump from Oxford to Weston

the world needs to tax these people a lot harder

so, there's a Picasso exhibit here at the national gallery

i had to point out to my daughter how “she was his young muse” and “secret relationship” was code for “Picasso was a pædo like the USA president”
I'm just so sick of comics and animation having their reputation as an art form ruined by bad apple representatives.

Pablo Picasso was one of the greatest misogynistic artist douchebags of the 20th century, but *his* work is seemingly beyond reproach.

Our landscape and ecosystem has been severely damaged for generations and the process by which it occurs is encouraged and subsidised by the State and the EU, initially to meet self-sufficiency needs, but now in the main because of export profitability. A country as an open air cow factory.

the UK is gonna bring in regulation for computer booping companies which provide e.g. MSP services to e.g. the NHS

which makes sense -- but imagine how the usual suspects in Silly Valley will react to this, the knee-jerk allergic to regulation cry-babies that they are

There's been a lot of pearl-clutching about public grocery stores!

Which is wild, because we have a LOT of experience with public grocery stores in the US. And the folks it serves (US military & military families) stand by it.

Let’s not pretend the hand-wringing is about anything other than blatant racism and misogyny on top of laughably poor media literacy. We hashed all this out years ago when it was announced that NTTD (a bad movie) was passing the 007 callsign to a Black woman

It’s difficult to underestimate the extra burden that this is placing on our public libraries. For example, on a daily basis library workers are now filling the in-person/human service gap that billion euro banking institutions have abdicated from to maximise their profit margins.
"Essential services are now digital by default, leaving many older people feeling locked out of their own lives."

As more of our lives move online by default, digital ageism has quietly become one of the last unchallenged prejudices, writes Fiona Daly.
