Where are people buying domains from these days? I saw @vercel.com just redid their domain buying workflow, but wasn't seeing anything about WHOIS privacy protection.

Hi everyone! I really hoped I'd never have to make a post like this, but I have been laid off.

I'm open to a remote or in-person role and I'm willing to relocate.

I have experience across the data stack and also as a back-end engineer

The Pragmatic Engineer 2025 Survey results are out!

In it:

- Most loved (and hated) tools
- Most-used AI tools
- IDEs and terminals
- Version control, CI/CD

Devs LOVE VS Code, JetBrains IDEs and... Cursor! (and tend to hate JIRA)

I wrote a quick little blog post about using TODOs in your code to reduce the cognitive load while working on large projects.

Most people are using AI to code the wrong way (as Torsten put it "Copilot-style completions). Tab completions are just a much better experience and pushes the LLM out of the way unless it's actually doing something useful.

Great read from Thorsten!
Wrote down how I changed my view on AI.

To the Rust and ML enthusiasts: I'm sharing the first feature-complete (sort of) version of mlx-rs, a new crate providing idiomatic Rust bindings for MLX! Now you can harness the power of MLX while writing Rust code 🚀

With uv (astral) and Zed, it is pretty easy to get set up to work on an existing Python project:

1. Clone the repo
2. `uv sync` to install deps in a .venv
3. Select the .venv in Zed's toolchain selector

We have plans to further improve our support of Python. Stay tuned.

Great thread!

Pushing Gen AI so heavily is not a good thing... Not every application needs it's own AI, if I want to use Gen AI I'll use it you don't need to add it to your niche app.
Holy moly. I'm trying to write an academic paper, and nearly every application I'm using is not only offering Generative AI as an option for writing, but *pushing it* -- pervading the design to the point where a simple misclick would make my content AI-generated. Here's why that's a problem. 🧵

This is crazy 🤯

The days of file over app are upon us
Microsoft just released a tool that lets you convert Office files to Markdown. Never thought I'd see the day.

Google also added Markdown export to Google Docs a few months ago.

Inspired by @wimlds.bsky.social , I looked for a "Women in Machine Learning" starter pack and couldn't find one.
So I created one! May have some mistakes. I'll try to do an AI ethics one next. 🤗
