I'm pretty sure that Norway was part of Sweden long before 1814. It was only in 1814 that Norwegians wrotentheir own constitution, modeled after the US Constitution. One of my ancestors was a signatory. The union with Sweden lasted until 1905 when Norway got its own modern king.
