We challenged the decision and gathered evidence of the client’s care needs, vulnerability, and the dangers she was exposed to without support.

After escalating the case, the Local Authority eventually carried out a full Care Act Assessment and accepted its duties under the Care Act 2014.

Despite clear needs and serious risks of exploitation, the Local Authority refused to conduct a Care Act Assessment or provide accommodation.

It was incredibly frustrating to see our client left unsupported and unsafe from exploitation for months when help should have been provided.

We worked (at speed!💥) with No5 Chambers on this case, challenging 2 local authorities in disagreement over responsibility to prevent street homelessness for our client – a single mother of two.

Within 3 hours of lodging the judicial review the High Court issued an injunction prohibiting eviction.

Our team attend courts across the country seeing 4 clients per HLPAS session, attending hearings with them and providing advice and support to understand the court’s decision and next steps.

It's often the first time they’ve spoken to a legal professional about their #housing issues.
