Just a cute little book account
I'm like Ramona Flowers, except instead of evil exes, if someone wants to date me they have to read my seven evil favorite books

I really really loved this book's approach to oral storytelling, culture, and myth!

It and the first book, The Empress of Salt and Fortune, were my first Nghi Vo, and they definitely won't be my last!

This is, at least partially, a story about community history surviving via underground oral storytelling admist a fascist regime bent on banning books.

Given the past two weeks, this book really spoke to me. It made me profoundly sad but... hopeful, even when survival is difficult, it is possible

Just read this the other day and had a blast!
A queer romance set on a competitive cooking show!

I'm very new to the romance genre, and realized my enjoyment dropped once the couple were together. I think for my next romance read I'll be on the lookout for a slow burn 🔥

I've been reading the Expanse books!

I haven't skeeted about them so far because I didn't really like the first two books, but I just finished Abbadon's Gate and it was excellent!

The plot is interesting and Anna is a new favorite character. I'll always happy to see a queer pastor!

And by pretending the moral character of a person is somehow visible through their writing, you are blaming the people who "couldn't tell" instead of the actual man who did the horrific acts and those who helped him cover it up
I'm uncomfortable with the inevitable "his work was always crap" because it seems to say "you can tell who the predators are by how well they write" and ... no no you absolutely cannot, that's the whole point.

Finna by Nino Cipri was a really fun read!

A fun adventure through a wormhole-strewm Ikea all about processing a break-up and how much retail is the worst

First read of 2025!

Le Guin is fantastic as always!

Don't let the awful cover out you off, inside is an amazing collection of four interconnected novellas about forgiveness, slavery, and female oppression.
Make sure to check for trigger warnings tho! It's the heaviest Le Guin book I've read so far

Hi, #booksky! One of my New Years Resolutions is to be more social, both online and IRL, and I figured the best way to do that would be to start a book account!

To celebrate this new endeavor, I'd like to share a few of my favorites books I read last year! 🧵
