Today we did a lesson on visualisation which really made us use our listening skills. We listened to the book "Stuck" by Oliver Jeffers but didn't get to see any of the pictures, and had to draw all of the items that Floyd managed to get stuck in a tree!

Today we looked at time using both digital and analogue clocks and learned how to read a clock when it shows quarter past and quarter to the hour.

We also created some clocks using lots of different materials!

Today for outdoor learning we combined Scottish book week and world children's day by taking a book and a biscuit to the woods, did some paired reading and then enjoyed our free play in Fun 31 time. #fun31

Today we were looking at 3D shapes. We talked about shapes we saw in everyday life and which shapes rolled and which ones you could stack!

We also had a great game of shape bingo and enjoyed building with the stackable shapes! 🔺🟨🟢

Today we revisited telling the time! We discussed seconds, minutes and hours and then used our little analogue clocks to show our understanding of "o'clock"! 🕒🕓🕕

Today we looked at sequencing a story. We've listened to "Rumble in the jungle" by Giles Andreae and then worked together to put the animals in the story in the right order. We then picked 4 of them to write about using our "First, next , then, finally" structure. Finished stories coming tomorrow! 📝

Today in numeracy we were practising adding using partitioning. We broke numbers down into tens and ones, or hundreds tens and ones and then added the different values back together. We used lots of practical materials to help us with this task! ➕🧮

We combined our topic of the rainforest with some measuring today in outdoor learning and found natural resources the same length as some rainforest animals. Did you know a capybara is over a metre long?!

Today we were learning about symmetry!

We looked at lots of different shapes and decided which ones had lines of symmetry and the used mirrors to create symmetrical shapes and put designs on them!

Today in outdoor learning we had great fun down at the Glen collecting leaves that had different textures, colours and patterns. We then made our own nature crowns 👑

Today we looked at subtraction in numeracy. We practised counting backwards and used our number lines and 100 squares to help us. We also did lots of fun active stations to support our learning!

Today we started to make some spooky Halloween pumpkins. We had to take our time and show patience to wait for the the glue to dry on each step before we moved on. Check back tomorrow for more finished results! 🎃🦇

Yesterday we looked at the book "How to catch a star" by Oliver Jeffers for a prediction and visualisation task. We didn't get to look at the cover, and only heard the first 2 pages of the book and then had to make a prediction about how the boy caught a star! ⭐⭐

Today we looked at the properties of 2D shapes. We talked about how many sides and corners shapes have and about where we see different shapes in every day life! 🔵🟩🔺🛑

Today we looked at maths through stories, using the book "Pezzittino" by Leo Lionni.

We explored how small pieces can make something amazing. We used cubes, coloured squares, and Lego to build our own characters and models, just like Pezzettino discovering where he belongs!
