Let me be clear. As someone who has been professionally involved with the biodefense / biosecurity sector for nearly 20 years, and has worked on biological risk analysis for Covid-19 since early 2020, reducing one's risk of being infected is not health anxiety. It's just smart.

The reason for this is multi-factorial but one key factor is: ⬆️ illness due to infectious disease, combined with ⬆️ illness due to Covid sequelae, combined with ⬆️ staff absence due to illness caused by infectious disease. Demand exceeds supply.

1. Emergency care in Northern Ireland has essentially collapsed. This was eminently predictable, especially considering the high incidence of influenza in the region at this point. The cause is multi-factorial.
