I just turned 42 in July and asked for the two-volume slipcase 9th edition of the Macquarie Dictionary for my birthday, and I use it all the time. It was an upgrade from my 3rd edition that I used when doing a course in editing and publishing.

I try to avoid shopping in person at this time of year, but one year when I lived near Chadstone I went there on the bus on Boxing Day, took one look at the shoulder to shoulder traffic jam of people just past the doors, and got straight back on the bus home.

I wonder if retailers are afraid to remind people that they can buy gifts at less than full price, earlier than the 24th of December? It would ruin Chadstone's all-night opening thing for one, if they still do that.

I think if it's not hitting the wearer's shoulder it's fine! I'm also partial to the more-blue colour scheme.

I'm a fan of the one on the right in the first picture. The additional blue bead between the top butterfly and the teardrop shape is the difference I like best, it gives more space for the separate larger elements.
