After a few years of upheaval, I am ready to return to my passion of both watching and writing about film. My goal is to write a short review on one film a day as I work on getting my writing skills back. Posts will be published on my website womanwithamovieblog.com, and included in this thread.

Every trans person you know is exhausted. Beaten down. We've been going through a parade of constant state sanctioned and private corporation enabled stripping of our rights and safety for a decade now.

We are still here, we are still standing, but we are so god damn tired. It's your turn now.

Not been able to stop thinking about this date. No work has been accomplished today
I unlocked a new experience last night that I highly recommend.

A random stranger came up to me and my date last night as we were cuddling on a couch in a bar, and asked if she could upload a video she took of us to instagram because we were “so fucking adorable”

With today’s Netflix/WB news, it would be a great day to buy a membership at your local independent/ arthouse theater. Been a @siffnews.bsky.social member for all 12 years I’ve lived in Seattle and have never regretted it.

It’s always funny how “Big Tent” means keep the same size tent but move it to the right and let people on the left fall out

This is extremely terrifying for a lover of the cinema. WB is 25% of this year’s box office, if that goes to a company that refuses to theatrically release their films outside of a one weekend, one LA screen Oscar qualifying run, that is probably the death knell for the theatrical experience

Somehow the worst beginning to a day that I have had in years shares the best end to a day I’ve had in a decade. Between AM adrenaline (negative) and PM adrenaline (positive) I am ready to sleep for the next week

You know that feeling where you’ve had 4 panic attacks in the last 18 hours and then the buildup of cortisol finally hits? I swear some replaced my blood with molasses

Ugh just left a discord server that had been really good for me because one person got angry and aggressive and I felt attacked, but now I’m really sad to have lost the rest of the community. I really hate that my trauma response is so strong

I seek out sapphic films so frequently, that it’s always funny when I put on a random film without that intention and it still happens to include a queer story about women

The most listened to song portion of Spotify Wrapped is really boring when you primarily listen to full albums

I respect the hell out of any director who has the gall to put “part I” in the title of her 5 1/2 documentary. If you need me today I’ll be at @siffnews.bsky.social seeing Julia Loktev’s “My Undesirable Friends: Part I - Last Air in Moscow” all day

I have hooked up my Black Friday (week) purchase of Dolby Atmos surround sound, and am breaking into the @umbrellaent.bsky.social 4K release of The Fall. A gorgeous film in the best picture and audio quality I’ve experienced it in makes for a great birthday afternoon.

Feels really significant that the Trump admin is making a concerted effort to force colleges to undo policies that made campus safe and accessible for trans people, because for so many trans people college is the first place they ever get to be themselves.

Except whether they can play sports, where they can use the bathroom or locker room, what kind of housing they can live in, and what healthcare they can receive.

My local independent movie theater, @siffnews.bsky.social, is showing a 5 1/2 hour Russian documentary this weekend
Most people: who would ever watch something like that at all let alone in a movie theater?
Me: what plans can I cancel so I can make this work?

Am I a Shin’ya Tsukamoto creation because I’ve got iron pumping through my veins.

(Aka I’m very anemic and getting an IV iron infusion)

After bouncing between four different films for my best of the year so far status ("Sorry, Baby", "One Battle After Another" "Sinners", and "If I Had Legs I'd Kick You"), none of them are in contention any longer

When misogyny is baked into every aspect of existence, how do we know when a critique is not the result of an implicit bias or overt hatred for women? And when do we know praise is coming from a place of sincerity and not defensiveness? #WickedForGood
