While it isn’t a perfect analogy, I realized that fighting for trans rights in the early 21st century was like my family fighting for gay rights in the 1960s. I didn’t know anyone I *knew* to be trans. I wanted to be on the right side of history, and wanted my kids to be inclusive and kind.

They haven't yet done anything to naturalized citizens, but they have said they want to "talk about" stripping naturalization from people. If you do travel, it's worth considering the advice here
