This is unacceptable!
My god…they just took 50 million from the general budget for vouchers going to private religious schools.

Now, another 100 million?

Writing matters!
Anyway. Writing matters. Your work of teaching matters. Yes, the conditions are hard and maybe even unacceptable. Giving the work over to a non-thinking, non-feeling, non-experiencing machine is not the way. www.hachettebookgroup.com/titles/john-...

A veteran writing teacher makes a “moving” (Rick Wormeli) argument that writing is a form of thinking and feeling and shows why it can’t be...

I love Merriam-Webster! This is the energy I need in my life right now!
“I’ll be 10 min late sorry!!!”

“A thousand apologies. The relentless slog of time has overtaken my faculties.”

Trump education cuts mean years of work – and millions of dollars – go to waste.

Staffers at US Department of Education say severe cuts in the name of efficiency are having the opposite effect: ‘You can’t even quantify the loss.’

I love this!
“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”
Finland ends homelessness and provides shelter for all in need - scoop.me
In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Why? The country applies the "Housing First" concept agains homelessness.

This is absolutely atrocious!
This type of language is an extra slap on the face on top of how funding for research that may help some of us feel better is being attacked.
This commission statement refers to people with Autism, ADHD, asthma, auto-immune disease, and chronic illness as a “dire threat to the American people and our way of life”.

This is a manifesto against disability.

This is the language of eugenics.

Musk is working on replacing contract workers in the Department of Education with AI chatbots, aiming to use generative AI to handle student and parent inquiries.

This is wrong on so many levels.
Eliminating the Department of Education and sending the onus of educating kids “back to the states” obscures the fact that families, "especially lower-income students in rural, suburban, and urban communities and students with disabilities" would be immeasurably harmed.

We must make a positive impact every day. No matter how small!
When I was young, the "Think globally, act locally" bumper sticker was quite popular. I think about it still. How we can make a positive impact in our local communities, or even virtual communities, that might have a ripple effect and make the world a better place.

I am having trouble watching videos here. The video starts just fine. But, when I click to make them full screen, they go away. And my page refreshes to the top. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

We need to support our students so they don’t get to this point!
A thread of how the MS/HS kids we talk with talk about stress at school:

"My coping mechanism for the stress that you get from school is to just completely stop. You get so overwhelmed that you drop all of it because that's what seems rational."
