I like romance novels, black cats, SSRIs, little treats, and democracy. Recently-RIF’d Fed 🤬.

Good morning and happy Saturday to everyone except that fat, lying, child-raping, twice impeached, porn star raw-dogging, Russia-colluding, insurrection-inciting, treasonous, classified documents-stealing felonious, dictator-loving, Constitution-defying MOTHERFUCKER, but I repeat myself.

Demolishing the East Wing of the White House before finalizing plans for what will be built above its ruins is a near-perfect metaphor for Trump's approach to economic policy. The only difference is the wrecking crew doesn’t claim the rubble is evidence of unprecedented growth.

Oh, hey, Bluesky. I have been hanging over on Threads because it’s freaking hilarious and there’s always something unhinged going on. Sometimes Bluesky depresses me because it’s all political truth and it solidifies what horrifying times we are in. So, hiiiii, again.

An update… still job hunting 😭

Not sure how I missed all this but I read this out loud to my husband, then went over to the .gov site. Omg. It’s so, so bad. So many ellipses. And don’t get me wrong, I love a good ellipses but NOT ON A PROFESSIONAL WEBSITE. Fuck their propaganda!

Job searching sucks so bad. I don’t know how people do it for over a year. I’ve only been at it for a few months and only a week of that has been serious (since I got RIF’d “officially” by HHS). There are state jobs available but all entry-level and I’d take a 25-50% pay cut. ⬇️

In an absolutely cruel move, surprising no one, HHS/FDA sent those on the April 1 RIF list a generic email saying our separation date is effective COB today AFTER COB. Then blocked our access so that we couldn’t even log in to read the email.

The 14th Amendment was ratified on this day in 1868. It guarantees:

✔️ due process for all
✔️ birthright citizenship
✔️ equal protection under the law

Now more than ever, we're determined to protect these essential rights.

This. I told my husband I feel like I’ve been grieving since January. It feels very much like grief for what has been lost.
I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

NIH staff just released the Bethesda Declaration—calling out politicized science, grant cuts & fear-based leadership.

Their minimal ask: a return to peer‑reviewed, mission‑aligned funding, restored grants & contracts, & respect for open scientific dissent.

Read it. Share it.

Also, my MIL and mom can’t believe no one has hired me yet. They have no clue about this job market. I guess I’m just their special girl 🤣 and they assume everyone should automatically love me. Having a BA, MA, and 18+ years of experience doesn’t drop jobs in your lap these days.

I know this is a first-world problem right now, but job searching right now is so demoralizing. Especially when you don’t really want to be on the job hunt in the first place. Got rejected by a company today and I even had a personal connection… ⬇️

I have been a customer of Optum RX Mail order Pharmacy for over 10 years & never have had a problem. My medication arriving late this time is due to problems within the USPS. If you know someone who is diabetic - has NO insurance, Optum offers this: $35.00 for a month

I wonder what it feels like to have such little self-respect that you would bow down to Dear Leader in front of God and everyone. Watching it day in and out is so cringe. The boot licking is astounding.

I got a notice from my pharmacy about an FDA recall of a prescription med. Tablets of a different med were mixed in with the labeled med from the manufacturer.

FDA. Not manufacturer.

Just in case anyone still has questions about why cutting funding to gov agencies is reckless.

We cannot let this day pass without honoring and remembering the veterans we have lost to suicide. This is one of the most urgent and heartbreaking issues facing our veteran community today—and it is all too real.
