Fun chance encounter with the Wild Bohemians' Mardi Gras parade on South St, playing "You Are My Sunshine"
Musicians on parade -- brass players and a drummer visible -- many of them wearing colorful costumes, hats, and necklaces. A lot of purple, green, and gold for Mardi Gras. Finally got out to InLiquid @inliquid.bsky.social at Crane Arts with @samueldurso.bsky.social to see "anamnesis." It's a great show that ends tomorrow, so see it fast if you're in Philly
"Reliquary" by Chris Vecchio. "Mixed media with bone and custom electronics." Bone visible through the little window in the box has some electronics embedded in it and light shining on it. Golden putti-style figures on top of the box flank a voltmeter that they are attached to by golden coiled cords. In person, the voltmeter moves back and forth. "Radio" by Chris Vecchio. "Crystal radio, vacuum tube amplifier, shell speaker." 3 pieces attached by wires, what looks like a bone platform with bone and an antenna on it on the left, similar platform with various electronic objects on it in the middle, and a marble platform with a vertical shell on it on the right. The shell made a cool kind of electronic hum. A little mechanical rumble to it maybe, or a low machine roar. "me me nto ma ga m or i" by williamCromar. "Paint on PETG 3D print." A 3D printed skull with a sideways stretched and distorted appearance. I'm pretty sure this is called "DialUP." Artist is Zach Mellman-Carsey. It's a small piece, a brooch in the form of an old cell phone with a screen that can show different videos and play different songs or sounds. A shot of the blue sky was on the screen at this point. On the left side it looks like a sparkly plume of smoke is coming out.

I envy the doll in my bathroom

Remembering a Wordle last week that took me for a ride
Blanked out Wordle results showing an initial attempt with 3 correct letters (green squares) and 2 incorrect letters (black squares), then, despite my optimism that I'd quickly crack the puzzle, 5 subsequent attempts in which I continued to guess the 2 remaining letters incorrectly, which seems like it shouldn't even be possible. And yet.

I'd love to have Munch paintings like The Kiss or The Vampire on view nearby, but I'm always glad we have The Mermaid at the Philadelphia Museum of Art:

One of my favorite things about the Rimbaud-Verlaine love story was their ability to time travel
Excerpt from a New York Times article about Verlaine's recently auctioned off drawing of Rimbaud. Article currently contains a date error that would have the 19th-century poets traveling forward in time and meeting in 1971: "The date when the drawing was made, June 1872, was also significant. Rimbaud, who was considered a boy genius, met Verlaine in Paris in September 1971, so the two had known each other for several months when the work was created. (new paragraph) They had begun a torrid affair — in its catalog, the auction house calls the relationship 'a tumultuous period' in Rimbaud's life — and the drawing was made a month or a few weeks before they decided to be together."

Almost full moon against blue night sky. Part of a silhouetted tree near the moon, then buildings, sidewalk, and street. People disappear [ ] but their bodies can't. A mirror pointed at a mirror at the wrong angle can trick someone invisible. The electricity in a lie detector can bring someone back to life, make them re-appear. But it is never strapped to the right person. When separated from their owners, objects start being clues. [ ] There is a footprint on the wrong part of the stair. There is a letter with devastated handwriting. There isn't time to dig deep enough, so victims are tucked into geological beds. A hand untucks itself after. The body becomes so light, it floats [ ] up to the surface.

A little 2023 retrospective -- the full moon that broke my phone
Triangular roof pointing into the sky on the left, with a lower section of roof on the right. This alley is having its moment
A somewhat worn down gray cobblestone alley extends between concrete sidewalks, with some bright yellow leaves on the sidewalk and along the gutters. In the foreground on the left there is a red bollard and a small tree with yellow leaves, and on the right there is a utility pole with a No Parking sign and a wooden barrel behind the pole. The buildings alongside the alley are made of brick (sometimes painted red or blue) and stucco. There are more bollards (black), a trash can, and trees with yellow and green leaves along the alley extending into the background, and all the way at the end of the alley you can see a brick building and what looks like a door.
