Who knew you could sell images of copyrighted characters with some nonsense AI text above for £3/pop!

(And the fact that people are paying for this instead of just saving the image from the page is wild.)

This is what a real customer journey looks like. Note how your tracking/attribution tool would not show it this way at all:

Here are some of the marketing stats we track every month for my SaaS.

If you don't know how much a lead is worth, how will you know how much you can spend to acquire it?

Note how we track LTV but also 1mo and 3mo mark. Bootstrappers have to be careful with using LTV only.

A huge downside of thousands of customers if you feel gun-shy about making changes.

If you change the way something is phrased in the interface, you could confuse everyone. So you stop making improvements.

This is something to actively fight, and also why little guys can compete with big guys.

It's bonkers that teams distributed across the world (asia, europe, north america) having regular calls has become a normal thing to do. This is not the way.

No way am I removing you from my email list voluntarily.

If you want off, unsubscribe.

But if you signed up for my content I am not "cleaning you", I am sending until the bitter end!

The SMARTEST thing an entrepreneur can do is pay themselves very well along the way.

I have a friend whose business was decimated by SEO changes.

But they've been taking home and investing a super healthy 6-figures every year for years. Instead of going into desperation mode they were fine.

YOUR EMAILS ARE MEANT TO BE IN THE PROMOTIONS TAB.

They are promotions.

For your business.

That's where they belong.

Don't stress about it.

I beg of you, try running google ads for high-intent keywords for your #SaaS.

It is THE instant, easy shortcut to guarantee that people actively searching for you know that you exist. You are overthinking the spend.

Almost none of the questions I see people asking online about their business. . .

will make any measurable difference to their business at all.

This is from an executive assistant SOP

Having someone else gather a bunch of tasks I didn't choose and then assign them to me every day sounds like my nightmare

If you want to lower your churn . . .

The most impactful thing you can do is improve your product.

If you know what would make your product more valuable, put resources into building it.

If you don’t, put resources into finding out.

We have this as one of our company rules:

"Do not access slack on your phone! We want you to be fully present, prepared and focused when you're signed on to slack."

Are you team slack on your phone or no?

From Our Paperbell "How We Work" Handbook:

Tiny Team, Big Results
Keeping the team small has many second-order benefits like easier communication and less bureaucracy. We keep the team as small as possible, and always default to project-based specialist freelancers first.

One of our Paperbell values:

👉 Get Uncomfortable To Improve 👈

Sometimes it's uncomfortable to give critical feedback, to learn a new skill yourself, or to reach out to ask for help. Practice getting uncomfortable to produce exceptional results.

If you want to know your future look at your actions, not your vision board.

I used to waste a lot of time "coaching" my team on things that were none of my business.

Their perfect productivity routine.

Why they were feeling unfocused.

Now I'm completely results oriented. We talk about the work and the systems needed to get the work done. Their psychology is up to them.

When I tell people I'm from Austin they ask what the weather's like

But how do you explain this??
April 4, 2025 at 3:44 PM
Common SaaS pattern:

1. I'm out of gas, I should just sell this business

2. I don't have amazing growth and the biz is nowhere near worth the 7x ARR I told myself it was

3. I gotta keep working to get that growth

4. Numbers keep getting worse, eventually sell for even less

The problem is never that you don't know what to do.

The problem is that you know what to do but have ruled it out because its mildly uncomfortable.
