reichwingwatchA 46-year-old North Carolina woman made her initial court appearance on Thursday following her Wednesday arrest for child ab*se & animal cruelty, after Nash County authorities discovered multiple dead animals at her residence.Amanda Wiersma faces four felony counts of cruelty to animals and one felony count of child ab*se/neglect involving the intentional infliction of serious injury.Nash County Animal Control responded to a residence in the 600 block of Hornes Road based on repeated reports of animal mistreatment and neglect. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Wiersma, the homeowner, and a 17-year-old resident. The probe revealed several deceased animals on the premises and what investigators termed “horrific living conditions” indoors, such as a lack of running water, plus widespread animal waste and urine throughout the dwelling.The Sheriff’s Office noted that these circumstances created an urgent health and safety risk for the teenager, who received hospital evaluation before being transferred to Nash County Child Protective Services for protection.Wiersma was taken into custody on-site and booked at the Nash County Detention Center on a $50,000 secured bond.The probe continues, with potential additional charges forthcoming.This marks the second such incident in Nash County within two months.
