If the stars align around August 20th in a given year you can experience L.’s aspera, cylindracea, & punctata in concert on the bluffs of Lost Valley Prairie SNA, Hastings MN. The few L. pycnostachya will have already taken a bow as the warm up band.

Agree! This is also the plant that made me wonder- why the luxurious fur coat in a hot dry habitat? Delighted to learn it’s a built in wind/sun screen! Genius.
